Now this is a ‘buyers beware’ scenario if there ever was one!
Sure, we are all looking for a bargain and these days…who wouldn’t be. And this is not to say that all discount couches are a bad buy, actually most discount couches are a very good bargain.
When purchasing discount couches there are several things you should look for such as framing. Is the frame made of good solid wood? Is it badly splintered, split, or cracked? If so, do not buy it. Is the framework well made, well put together? A discount couch should have plenty of support to make it a true bargain. The wood framing should not only go around the outer edges underneath, but it should have plenty of cross supports, much like the slats you have seen under box springs of a bed frame.
The fact is, unless discount couches have a good solid framework? They will not last any longer than it takes your 2 year old to jump on it a couple of times. Even if discount couches with poor framework get a lot of use, not abuse, they still will not last very long. A good solid couch starts with good solid framework.
And the material covering discount couches is important as well. These days, micro fibers are your best bet. They resist water and stains and easily wiped clean with a damp cloth or soapy cloth if necessary. A stain resistant fabric covering of any kind would be okay in discount couches. With children and pets you simply must have a discount couch that is easy to maintain.
It is highly doubtful you will find discount couches made of leather and if you do, beware. It is highly probable that discount couches claiming to have leather upholstery do not. It is either imitation or a very low grade of leather that will not hold up to the wear and tear that will be placed on it.
It is always wise and highly recommended that you do not make rash decisions when it comes to discount couches. Even if the cost is low, you do not want to purchase a discount couch that will only last you a year or two when, for a few dollars more, you could have had a couch that will last for years to come.
